Girl Scout Troops 446, 1423, and 226 win third place for keeping with this year's parade theme "The Magic of Christmas." As the float headed up North Commerce Street in downtown Centreville scouts dressed as Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mints and handed out candy.
Centreville's chapter of American Heritage Girls, a program that is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country, took first place in the Keeping with the Theme category.
Centreville Middle School Honor Society took second place in Keeping with the Parade’s Theme, recreating the winter wonderland found in the 2003 film “Elf” as where Buddy the Elf and his wife Jovie wave to the crowd.
Wye River Upper School takes home this year’s award for best overall float in the annual Centreville Christmas parade. Held Friday, Dec. 2, the theme for this season was the Magic of Christmas. A multitude floats, lighted vehicles and riders on horseback delighted the crowds lining Commerce Street.
